Ideally we all wish to feel relaxed with a clear mind and energetic enough
to take on everyday events.
Shiatsu is an ancient Japanese healing therapy following similar principles as acupuncture by working on a system of energy channels or ‘meridians’, each meridian connecting with an organ.
Shiatsu literally means finger pressure. However, the practitioner may also use thumbs, palms, elbows and knees during the course of your treatment. Carefully applied pressure and stretching techniques are used to stimulate the meridians and rebalance energy in order to promote good health.
As a Patient you remain fully clothed – and the treatment is traditionally carried out on
a ‘futon’ mat on the floor.
Shiatsu can be helpful for the following conditions:- Stress, headaches and migraine, insomnia, digestion, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), circulation problems, High Blood Pressure (HBP), fatigue, neck, back and shoulder pain / stiffness, Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), sciatica, improves posture, reproductive disorders, pregnancy, arthritis and rheumatism, emotional problems, sports and general injuries etc.
In 1986 Josephine commenced a three-year practitioner’s diploma course with the British School of Shiatsu-Do. Following her Graduation she passed an assessment in 1990 by the Shiatsu Society and was accepted onto their Practitioners Register. She attended many post-graduate studies with three leading Japanese Shiatsu teachers - all students of the late Shiatsu Master, Shizuto Masanaga, the founder of Zen Shiatsu. In 1992 she was accepted by the Shiatsu Society as one of their Registered Teachers.
