At Broadstone Physiotherapy we have physiotherapists that specialise in ski injuries …prevention + treatment.
With the ski season fast approaching this is a great time to maximise your skiing potential by having a biomechanical assessment to enhance your performance. Top professional skiers find this method invaluable for improving their performance and technique.
Liz and Kate have both worked with elite and professional skiers/snowboarders in Europe and New Zealand – They are passionate about skiing.
Who needs a Biomechanical assessment
Everyone who has suffered with aches and pains after skiing despite good strength and fitness
Anyone finding they are not progressing in their ski techniques despite good instruction and fitness
So whether you remember your knee niggling on your last run to the café or you want to “let it rip” even harder this year by getting ski fit …come and see us.
How will this benefit me
By overcoming weaknesses you will ski with greater efficiency which will mean fewer aches and pains and more time on the slopes
Your muscle groups and movement patterns are reawakened and new patterns learnt which will enable you to do all the things your instructor is asking or you want to.
We can offer you
Individual Preseason Screening:- A thorough biomechanical assessment from head to toe of your muscles, joints, posture and balance. This will highlight any muscle imbalance, stiffness, or balance limitations which may be affecting your skiing. We will then discuss the findings with you and put together your personal program to get you up to peak performance to hit the slopes
Personal Exercise Programme:- A programme of skiing specific exercises to improve your potential. We can strengthen any weak patterns of movement, lengthen tight and shortened muscle groups, loosen stiff joints, correct any poor postural patterns, increase your core stability and improve balance control.
Pre-existing injuries:- Nobody wants to be in pain when they are cruising down a blue run or negotiating a black. So come and see us so we can sort out those problems before you hit the slopes.
Treatment would involve ‘hands on’ techniques such as mobilising joints, myofascial release and electrotherapy but importantly exercises to continually correct and strengthen with an emphasis on returning you to your sport
